Clik here to view.I can’t believe it’s June already! May can’t be over! NOOooooo . . . It seems that May was the month of “Okay, I’ll do that tomorrow,” only tomorrow never came. Here we are at the beginning of a new month, and I did very little to accomplish 2 of my goals in May. I was not consistent with either my Bible reading or my menu planning.
On the upside, I have delved deeper with prayer, been consistent with it, and enjoyed the blessings that came of it–both my for myself and for those I prayed for. Prayer is really an awesome tool for us, it’s main benefit being a closer relationship with the Creator of our world.
So, while May may have been a 2/3 failure, that 1/3 is SO important.
I’ve learned from my mistakes, focused my attention, and am ready for June’s goals.
This month, I’m focusing on my health, which has been sorely lacking. I am guilty of putting aside the things that are good for my health, and instead traveling the road of convenience. Life isn’t about convenience, though. In part, it’s about doing what’s right and what’s necessary.
JUNE GOALS
1. Commit to a paleo diet–at least 80% of the time. If you are friends with me on Facebook and Twitter, you’ve heard me talk about the paleo diet and some of the possible benefits of such a diet. I’ve spent the past several months introducing my family to a new variety of foods as we tried out different paleo meals. Now I need to make the commitment. I’ve already talked to my husband, and he’s agreed to 80%. What does that mean? It means that 4 meals a week could be non-paleo if we chose. It leaves room for some treats.
2. New sleeping schedule: In my bed by 10, lights out at 10:30, alarm goes off at 5:30. I do pretty good with 7 hours of sleep. However, many times I’ve struggled with a schedule, which leaves me more tired, which leads to oversleeping or naps, which lead to staying up later–vicious cycles!
3. Exercise! I need to move beyond the motto: housekeeping is a workout! (Especially since I’m pretty lousy when it comes to housework.) I want to lose 20 lbs. by the Realm Maker’s Conference at the beginning of August, but that will only be remotely possible if I start now! My husband and I have both agreed to start walking when we can. When we can’t, I plan to use some pilates and cardio videos, as well my Gazelle (which has been gathering dust in the garage since we moved here–hubby is bringing it inside).
Now, I normally only commit to the 3 goals, but as I’ve been trying to become a better housekeeper, I’ve been following FLYLady. The focus of the month for June is drinking our water. That’s a big one. Since I gave up sodas last September, I’ve been drinking nothing but water and tea (and the occasional hot chocolate). However, there are many days I still don’t drink ENOUGH.
Who’s with me? Are you going to take the nice weather and more relaxed mood of summer to improve your health?
What are your goals for June?
